Thanks to a recent update to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, many small employers will be reviewing their pay structures ahead of the Dec. 1 deadline. CEO David Reid spoke with Manta about how companies can and should prepare.
“Employers run risks ranging from fines, legal fees and, potentially, law suits from employees as a result of misclassifying employees as either exempt or independent contractors,” Reid said. “Therefore, properly classifying employees from the onset is the best practice and significantly lowers an employer’s risk from potential costs.”
